SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES
All submitted articles should be original works and not concurrently under consideration by any other publication. Contributors who do not write primarily in English should have their work reviewed by a native English speaker before submitting material.
They should be sent in either Microsoft Word .doc or .rtf format as e-mail attachments to journal@gei.de.
Articles should be no longer than 7,000 words (including endnotes and references, although longer articles might be considered) and include a 100-word abstract and six to eight keywords. The files themselves should be formatted as US Letter, with one-inch margins, double-spacing, and twelve-point Times font throughout. Additionally, diacritics should be highlighted, as they might not import correctly during typesetting.
Contributors also should include a cover page with institutional affiliations and a complete mailing address (including phone and fax numbers and an e-mail address).
Copyrights / Permissions
All contributors must submit copyright agreements and all requisite permission documents for reprinting or altering copyrighted materials, both textual and graphic. The author is entirely responsible for obtaining all permissions and resolving any associated fees.
Figures / Tables
All figures (photos, graphs, maps, etc.) and tables should be in separate files; only placement indicators should be included in the articles themselves. Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3; not Figure 1a, Figure 1b, Figure 1c). Moreover, figures should be approximately 4 x 4-inches and in TIFF (300 dpi resolution) or EPS (800 dpi resolution) format.
All figures should include captions.
Style
The Journal of Educational, Media, Memory, and Society style guide is based on the Chicago Manual of Style, 14th and 15th editions, with occasional deviations based on the publisher's preferences. Moreover, the journal uses American English punctuation and spelling, according to Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary or the American Heritage College Dictionary (italicize non-English words throughout that do not appear romanized in these dictionaries).
References - Endnotes
Notes should be kept to a minimum, but must include all works consulted by the author. All notes should be endnotes (and not footnotes).
The short-title system is used for references and follows the notation of the Chicago Manual of Style.
The first reference to any work must provide full bibliographic information, including the subtitle, if any, which should be separated from the title by a colon (for books published in English). Subsequent references may be abbreviated. Refer to the full style guide for reference examples:
