Activating Online Access for Institutional Subscriptions

Online access is provided at IngentaConnect. Registration and online activation needs to be carried out as follows: journals.berghahnbooks.com/access/index.php?pg=inst

Librarians: Once registered with Ingenta you must remember to activate your subscription to your Berghahn Journal: www.ingentaconnect.com/about/librarians/activating_subscriptions

License Agreements

Berghahn Journals supports the NISO-sponsored SERU initiative (Shared Electronic Resource Understanding): www.niso.org/committees/SERU. Institutions registered with the NISO/SERU and wishing to subscribe to any Berghahn Journal may forego a traditional licensing agreement and operate under SERU Recommended Practices and should notify Berghahn accordingly.

Online Journal Back Volumes – Current Offer

As part of your institutional subscription you will be able to access the entire available archive of the journal for the duration of your subscription. Through Berghahn’s archiving arrangements with CLOCKSS, LOCKSS, and Portico, you are guaranteed perpetual online access for your purchased subscription. If your institution would like perpetual access to the entire available archive, backfiles must be purchased for the back volumes not included in your purchased subscription.

Archiving

In order to provide librarians guaranteed continuity and security, Berghahn Journals participates in the preservation initiatives of CLOCKSS, LOCKSS, and Portico. Berghahn supports these systems for archiving and post-cancellation access pursuant to the terms outlined in the Berghahn license agreement.

Guidelines for Institutional Repository

Librarians who are manage their institution’s repository should not approach the publisher directly, bur rather approach the authors within their institutions. The authors of Articles published in Berghahn journals can provide their final, pre-print version of their Articles for posting once any embargo period has passed. The institutional repository record should provide an acknowledgement along the following lines together with a link to the publisher's site:

"This is a post-peer-review, pre-copyedited version of an article published in [insert journal title]. The definitive publisher-authenticated version [insert complete citation information here] is available online at: [insert URL here]"
