Information for Contributors
The editors welcome contributions and ask authors to consult the Contributor's Guide to Style.
Contributions to the History of Concepts style guide is based on the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition. The journal uses American English punctuation and spelling, according to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary or the American Heritage College Dictionary (italicize non-English words throughout that do not appear Romanized in these dictionaries).
Submitted articles may not exceed 9,000 words in length, including footnotes. Submissions that exceed 9,000 words will not be accepted for review.
Normally, Contributions to the History of Concepts will not consider for publication articles previously published elsewhere, whether in print or online, whether in English or in some other language. Articles made available via open-access repositories are considered published. The journal will not publish articles structured as interviews.
It is a condition of publication in CHoC that authors grant an exclusive license to Contributions to the History of Concepts. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain print and online permission to quote material from third party sources and to cover any costs incurred in securing these rights. The editors should be alerted at the earliest opportunity as to any difficulty in securing these third party rights.
